Job summary

Tarmac is seeking a Readymix Shipper at the Birtley Regional Office to plan and coordinate deliveries, optimise fleet use and monitor real-time progress. You’ll work with plants, hauliers and customers to ensure on-time, safe service.

The role requires strong IT skills, logistics experience and a customer-focused mindset. Working hours are Mon-Fri 7am-5pm with rotational shifts if required, and it is based in Birtley, with easy access from surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• Previous scheduling, distribution or logistics experience preferred.
• Strong IT and system skills.
• Commercial awareness and a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of transport operations, fleet utilisation and industry processes.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule customer orders to meet delivery requirements.
• Optimize vehicle and fleet utilisation to control costs.
• Monitor deliveries and resolve issues proactively.
• Liaise with plants to ensure materials are available for planned deliveries.
• Manage haulage requirements and hired transport costs.
• Provide customers with delivery updates and excellent service.
• Build strong relationships with colleagues, hauliers and customers.
