Job summary

General All-Purpose Plastics (GAP) Ltd in Ashford, England, is seeking a 7.5T Delivery Driver/Trade Counter Assistant for a full‑time, on‑site position. Salary is £14.39 per hour for a 41.5‑hour week with every second Saturday.

You will support daily trade counter operations, manage stock and orders, and ensure safe, timely deliveries. Join a busy team that values customer service, reliability and teamwork; the role includes stock handling, POS duties, and basic product queries by phone/email.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence (C1) with no more than 6 points.
• Experience at trade counter, in retail, warehouse or distribution is desirable.
• Strong customer service skills with clear verbal communication.
• Basic numeracy for cash handling and stock counting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Physically fit and able to lift/carry heavy items as required.
• Proficient with basic IT systems, email and stock control/POS software.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Serve trade and retail customers at the trade counter, including sales and stock checks.
• Receive, unpack and store deliveries; rotate inventory.
• Prepare customer orders and pick lists for collection and delivery.
• Carry out local deliveries/collections; load and unload goods safely.
• Operate POS, process cash, card and account transactions.
• Maintain a clean, safe counter/yard area and basic housekeeping.
• Support stocktakes and cycle counts; report discrepancies.
• Provide phone and email support for enquiries and order tracking.
• Follow health and safety policies and vehicle checks before shifts.
