Job summary

General All-Purpose Plastics (Gap) Ltd in Reading invites applications for a Trade Counter Assistant/Driver. You will support daily counter operations, handle stock and orders, and ensure safe, timely deliveries.

A full UK driving licence and experience in customer-facing retail or warehouse environments are preferred. Typical duties include assisting customers at the counter, processing sales, and coordinating local deliveries while maintaining accurate paperwork and using POS systems.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer-facing retail or warehouse environments is desirable.
• Strong communication and numeracy skills are required.
• Full UK manual driving licence is essential with a clean record.

Responsibilities

• Serve trade and retail customers at the trade counter, including processing sales and stock checks.
• Receive and unpack deliveries, label and store stock and rotate inventory.
• Prepare customer orders and pick lists for collection and delivery.
• Carry out local deliveries and collections using company vehicles with safe loading.
• Operate POS systems and process cash, card and account transactions.
• Maintain a clean, safe counter and yard area and assist with stocktakes.
• Provide phone/email support for customer enquiries and order tracking.
• Adhere to health and safety policies and vehicle checks before shifts.
