Qualifications

  • Educated to degree standard, achieving a 2:1 or above.
  • Holds an accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or similar), or finalist.
  • Experience working in a commercial area of finance.
  • Ability to communicate daily with non-finance professionals.

Job description
Overview

Part of the UK Decision Support team, business partnering including with the 'go-to-market' (commercial) organization, playing a key role in strategic and tactical planning for the areas of the business supported. Working closely alongside senior stakeholders including CFO, MD and other members of the Senior Leadership Team.

Responsibilities
  • Become a trusted partner to members of the Go to Market Leadership Team & individuals within the areas of the business supported.
  • Ensure management information and performance is well understood.
  • Play a key role in strategic and tactical planning, identifying risks & opportunities.
  • Improve management information and analytics to deliver timely, forward‑looking, actionable data to support effective decision making.
  • Hold stakeholders to account for performance and apply the right level of challenge to decisions.
  • Innovate and implement appropriate metrics to measure effectiveness in the areas of business supported & optimize costs.
  • Drive efficiencies within finance by keeping back‑office systems and processes under constant review and driving automation, leveraging AI where appropriate.
  • Preparation, and review, of key monthly reports to ensure timely and accurate reporting of performance and summarize including impact on outlook, covering sales performance and P&L.
  • Lead performance reviews from a finance perspective and ensure stakeholders are well prepared.
  • Provide timely, robust, and actionable analysis of results as well as forecasts on how those results may impact full year future performance.
  • Ensure timely delivery of month‑end results to various stakeholders with insightful analysis.
  • Co‑ordinate with Financial Accounts to help ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Own quarterly forecasting process for areas supported, working closely alongside both finance and business stakeholders.
  • Deliver quarterly forecast to timetable covering sales, revenue, and costs.
  • Support and develop more junior talent in the team, Decision making – Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions.
  • Creating a service reputation crafting and implementing service practices that meet customers and LN needs, using appropriate interpersonal styles and techniques.
  • Innovation – generating innovative solutions in work situations; trying different and novel ways to deal with work problems and opportunities.
  • Continuous improvement – originating action to improve existing conditions and processes; identifying improvement opportunities, generating ideas, and implementing solutions.
  • Contributing to team success actively participating as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals.
  • Technical/professional knowledge and skills – having achieved a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position‑related areas, keep up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise.
  • Financial acumen – utilising financial data to diagnose business strengths and weaknesses and identify the implications for potential strategies, keeping a financial perspective in the forefront when recommending courses of action.
  • Communication – clearly and succinctly conveying information and ideas to individuals and groups in a variety of situations; communicating in a focused and compelling way that drives others' thoughts and actions; engaging the audience to help them understand and retain the message.

Qualifications

  • Possesses and applies a good understanding of principles and concepts in own specialist area.
  • Strong team player.
  • Ability to communicate daily with non‑finance professionals and demonstrate ability to deal with potentially emotive topics.
  • Display high degree of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel desirable.
