Job summary

Smartest Energy UK is seeking a proactive Debt Management Team Lead to manage a team of Debt Executives, driving performance, service quality and achieving operational targets. You will coach, mentor and manage workloads to balance capacity and address challenges.

This fixed-term role until 27/09/2027 offers hybrid working and opportunities to influence process improvements and cross-functional collaboration across UK offices.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a debt management or similar team.
• Strong leadership and coaching skills.
• Proven ability to build cross-functional relationships.
• Knowledge of the UK Energy Industry.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Job description

You will lead and develop a team of Debt Executives, ensuring the delivery of high performance, excellent customer service and key operational targets. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will play a key role in driving team performance through effective leadership, coaching, mentoring and performance management, while ensuring workloads are balanced and operational challenges are addressed proactively.

You will also contribute to the wider operational strategy by identifying opportunities for process improvement, supporting business change initiatives and ensuring systems, products and services continue to meet business and customer needs. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will help drive best practice, maintain industry compliance and ensure accurate and timely reporting, making a positive contribution to the ongoing success of the Debt Management function.

Please note this is Fixed term until 27/09/2027

What skills/experience do I need to be successful?

• Intricate working knowledge of Smartest Energy products and operational processes;
• Track record of team leadership or showing leadership potential through performance in a team role;
• Track record in developing and managing strong cross-business relationships;
• Able to manage additional projects/responsibilities outside of the normal job scope as and when required;
• Knowledge of the UK Energy Industry.
