A market-leading Energy company is seeking a Day Operator for their energy from waste power station near Bicester. Responsibilities include controlling vehicle movements, operating plant and machinery, and conducting maintenance activities. This full-time position involves split shifts from Monday to Friday, with a Saturday shift every 7 weeks.

Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company to recruit for a Day Operator at their energy from waste power station near Bicester, Oxfordshire.

The day operator role offers a basic salary of £35,160 + £2,654 location allowance + £2,289 partial shift allowance + up to 10% bonus + other benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

• Control vehicle movements in the tipping hall area.
• Assist with loading and unloading operations.
• Operate mobile plant and machinery in accordance with the company's procedures.
• Operate weighbridges when required and complete the necessary tickets associated.
• Carry out first‑line maintenance activities within the tipping hall area.
• Operate the overhead grab crane via the control room when required.
• Carry out random inspections of waste arriving to site in the tipping hall to ensure compliance with the permit and report any non‑conformance.

This will be a Monday‑Friday role working split day shifts (06:30‑15:00 / 10:30‑19:00) with an early Saturday shift every 7 weeks.

Professional qualifications

• Engineering qualification (advantageous but not a necessity).
• Mobile plant tickets (highly advantageous).

Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge

• Experience in mobile plant operations.
• Prior experience working in the waste management sector.
• Good IT skills with ability to use MS applications.

Salary and benefits of the Day Operator role

A total remuneration of £40,103 inclusive of partial shift allowance and location living allowance, up to 10% bonus, overtime and other benefits.
