Job summary

Safran Electrical & Power in Slough is seeking a Data Transfer Engineer to lead the migration of legacy product data into the PLM environment. You will own data preparation, cleansing, mapping and validation, coordinating with engineering and programme teams to ensure accurate, traceable transfer of CAD models, drawings and documents.

The role requires experience with PLM systems (3DEXPERIENCE/ENOVIA, Teamcenter, Windchill), strong Excel and Power BI skills, and a proactive approach to process

Qualifications

  • Experience with product data migration, data management or PLM environments.
  • Knowledge of CAD data, engineering drawings and related databases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI; basic scripting/automation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and documentation abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver migration of legacy and in-production product data into the PLM system.
  • Assess, extract, cleanse, validate and prepare data for migration.
  • Collaborate with Safran PLM teams across multiple sites to support data transfer activities.
  • Develop, harmonise and improve data modelling and migration methodologies.
  • Create and maintain procedures, work instructions, and training materials.

This role takes ownership of the complete data migration work package, ensuring that engineering data is accurately transferred, validated, and made available within the new PLM environment.The migration scope includes a variety of legacy product data, such as 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, PDF documents, Microsoft Word files, and Excel spreadsheets. Working closely with engineering, design, and programme stakeholders, the Data Engineer will manage data preparation, cleansing, mapping, migration, and validation activities to ensure a successful transition to the PLM platform while maintaining data quality, integrity, and traceability.• Lead and deliver the migration of legacy and in-production product data into the PLM system.• Assess, extract, sort, cleanse, validate, and prepare product data for migration.• Collaborate with Safran PLM teams across multiple sites to support data transfer activities.• Ensure data preparation activities comply with SEC standards, guidelines, and procedures.• Develop, harmonise, and improve data modelling and migration methodologies.• Create and maintain supporting procedures, work instructions, and documentation.• Organise and support training related to migration tools and processes.• Monitor and report project progress through dashboards and regular status updates.• Identify, communicate, and manage project risks, issues, and opportunities.• Maintain and update project plans and schedules.• Work closely with cross-functional teams to support project objectives.• Promote and implement engineering best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.• Ensure compliance with engineering processes and documentation requirements.• Adhere to company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures.• Travel within the UK, France, and internationally as required to support project and workshop activities.Job RequirementsEssentialDegree or equivalent experience in Data Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.Experience with product data migration, data management, or PLM environments.Knowledge of PLM systems (e.g. 3DEXPERIENCE/ENOVIA, Teamcenter, Windchill).Understanding of CAD data, engineering drawings, and associated databases.Experience in data extraction, cleansing, validation, and migration activities.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI.Basic scripting and automation skills.Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.Experience preparing project reports and presenting to stakeholders.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.DesirableExperience with digital twin or IoT-enabled engineering environments.Knowledge of data analytics, KPI reporting, and visualisation tools such as Tableau.Experience supporting PLM implementation or engineering data transformation projects.But what else?
