With major sites in Wolverhampton and Banbury, our teams play a critical role in delivering innovative, reliable and safe systems that keep aircraft performing at their best.In this position, you will be responsible for managing and delivering assigned Engineering and/or In-service programs within Global Defence Systems.As the single point of contact for all activities in this role, you will work closely with supporting business functions such as Functional Engineering disciplines, Project Teams, Supply Chain, Quality, Programme Managers, Operations leadership, and the Engineering Manager to develop and deliver New Product Introduction (NPI) programs that are compliant, on time, and within target costs, or to support production work packages and provide resolution to issues.It is essential that you develop and maintain an excellent relationship with the customer(s) as the main point of contact to ensure that deliverables and requirements are met according to the customer's needs.What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?• Develop and maintain project plans to ensure that all engineering deliverables are defined.• Monitoring projects to ensure adherence to schedule, cost, and engineering deliverables, particularly regarding technical issues.• Collaborating with the associated Project Manager.• Establish and maintain engineering project forecasts for resource allocation and expenditure to support annual budgeting.• Reviewing and managing technical risks, associated costs and developing mitigation plans, and proactively implementing them with regular reviews to support project plans.• Coordinating the Project Team through regular start up meetings.• Facilitating communication flow from Senior Management to engineering staff and serving as an upward conduit for feedback from engineering staff to senior management.• Leading a team of engineers and technicians, extracting the best performance from team members.• Collaborating with the Engineering Manager to facilitate staff development through mentorship of team members.• Ensuring adherence to engineering processes.• Engineering products to specification, ensuring compliance with all technical requirements, including statutory, legal, and ethical standards.• Monitoring and controlling product costs to meet agreed targets.• Addressing issues related to the in-service use of project equipment and implementing timely corrective actions.• Managing the progression and resolution of FRACA (Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action) issues raised within the team.Job RequirementsWhat You'll Bring• Qualified to Degree-Level, Chartered Engineer, or possess relevant experience in the product line or a similar field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.• Demonstrates broad technical and intellectual capability, with the ability to effectively interface with a wide range of professionally qualified individuals in both external and internal business disciplines.• Highly motivated, capable of driving results through direct leadership and the effective utiliation of resources.Desirable skills:• Demonstrates determination and commitment, with a proven track record of taking responsibility and calculated risks.• Capable of quickly assessing risks and providing timely corrective actions when necessary.• Possesses strong organizational and time management skills, with a keen attention to detail.• Recognized for exceptional leadership skills.• Structured and organized, with proficiency in planning, reporting, and communication; able to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.• Previous experience in an Aerospace environment is preferred within.
