Job summary

VWFS UK is seeking a knowledgeable Data Protection Specialist to support UK data protection compliance within our Legal & Compliance Team. You will advise on UK laws, maintain ROPA, and lead DPIAs and data breach responses, while engaging with regulators and frontline teams.

The role requires strong understanding of ICO guidance, exceptional stakeholder skills, and the ability to drive improvements across the business.

Qualifications

• Experience providing data protection advice within Compliance/Legal.
• Strong knowledge of ICO guidance and regulatory expectations.
• Ability to manage complex, time-sensitive workloads with precision.
• Experience researching, analysing and presenting regulatory information.
• Able to challenge views and interpret regulatory guidance accurately.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance to the business on UK Data Protection laws and regulatory changes.
• Support maintenance of Registers of Processing Activities (ROPA).
• Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA).
• Lead the assessment, oversight, and reporting of personal data breaches and MI reporting.
• Act as a key contact for DSARs, complaints and litigation matters related to data protection.
• Develop and execute second-line monitoring activities to assess compliance and improvements.
• Liaise with ICO on customer complaints and regulatory enquiries, ensuring robust investigations.
• Collaborate with Legal & Compliance colleagues to resolve privacy issues.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data protection compliance.
