Job summary

Places for People is seeking a senior Data Architect to lead the design of its data platform within the Data Platform Engineering function. You will drive architecture, governance, and Data as a Product mindset across domain squads, collaborating with Principal data engineers to deliver scalable data pipelines.

You will ensure interoperability, security, and GDPR compliance while mentoring engineers and analysts and shaping the data roadmap for the organisation’s data mesh journey.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Data Solutions Architect or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Google's BigQuery and data mesh.
• Expertise in data platform architecture and ETL/ELT processes.
• Excellent communicator with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• GDPR and data governance awareness.

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee the data platform architecture.
• Define data governance and security standards.
• Champion Data as a Product across domains.
• Collaborate with engineers to implement data pipelines (batch, streaming).
• Provide mentorship and guidance to the team.
