Job summary

Canopius is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to join the Data Governance team. You will help establish and operate data governance across the business, working with Data Owners, Data Stewards and wider functions to embed policies, metadata, and data quality practices across domains.

You will administer data governance tooling, maintain business glossary content, classifications and lineage, and support governance forums, incident management, and reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience implementing data governance frameworks across domains.
• Ability to define business terms, data definitions and standards.
• Experience supporting governance tools and translating feedback into enhancements.
• Knowledge of data quality concepts (accuracy, completeness, timeliness).
• Strong stakeholder engagement with business and tech teams.
• Understanding regulatory considerations (PII).

Responsibilities

• Support data governance frameworks, policies, standards and operating models across domains.
• Administer governance tooling, metadata, and business glossary content.
• Document and standardise data definitions and ownership across domains.
• Improve internal glossary app, capture feedback, and propose enhancements.
• Collaborate with Data Owners/Stewards to maintain data standards and artifacts.
• Monitor adherence to policies, supporting audit activities.
• Provide SME on governance concepts to stakeholders.
• Contribute to governance forums and drive adoption of practices.
• Promote data-led culture through training and communications.
• Publish management information on governance activity and risks.
• Track data incidents and support risk registers and incident logs.
