Job summary

Canopius seeks an experienced Data Governance & Data Quality lead to drive enterprise governance initiatives in a senior capacity. You will own policies, standards and controls, mentor a 5-person team and collaborate with Data Owners to mature the data estate.

Based in Manchester with a hybrid work pattern, the role focuses on embedding governance by design in projects, maintaining KPIs, and guiding data quality across domains.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in enterprise data governance and data quality frameworks.
• Experience embedding governance policies, standards and controls across organisations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement to drive adoption.

Responsibilities

• Own and embed Data Governance and Data Quality frameworks across the organisation.
• Manage data policies, principles and standards with Data Owners and stakeholders.
• Evolve data ownership and stewardship models with defined accountabilities.
• Operate the Data Quality risk and control framework including issue remediation and reporting.
• Define and maintain data governance maturity, KPIs, thresholds and SLAs.
• Oversee data quality incidents, root-cause analysis and remediation with stakeholders.
• Support governance forums, coordinate papers and actions, escalate as needed.
• Embed governance by design into projects and changes across IT.
• Define roadmap with Head of IT Governance for regulatory and business needs.
• Act as business owner for governance applications including design and release.
• Promote data governance awareness and training across the organisation.
• Lead audits and assurance activities; ensure timely remediation.
• Oversee master and reference data governance including ownership and review.
• Develop team objectives, performance, capacity and succession planning.
• Stay updated on data governance trends and best practices.
• Undertake other ad-hoc duties as required.
