Our client operates critical data centre infrastructure across London and is looking for a Data Centre Engineer to join their team on a 24/7 shift rotation. Hardware break-fix is the core of the role, with cabling as a secondary skill. If you're hands-on, reliable, and comfortable working shifts including nights, this is a solid role with genuine development on offer.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Hardware break-fix across data centre environments — diagnosis, repair, and replacement of failed components
- Working across hard drives, memory, system boards, processors, and HP rack-level kit
- Structured cabling — installation, patching, and cable management to a professional standard
- Maintaining data centre standards — clean, organised, and operationally robust environments
- Shift-based coverage across Lewisham (primary) and Canary Wharf sites
- Contributing to a 24/7 operation on a rotating 3-week day/night shift pattern
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Hands-on data centre hardware experience — break-fix is the core requirement
- Comfortable working with hard drives, memory, system boards, processors, and HP L-kit
- Structured cabling experience — neat, accurate, and professional
- Reliable and punctual — 24/7 shift operations depend on it
- Comfortable with night shifts — the rotation is moving toward a 2pm–2am window
- London-based and able to commute to Lewisham
THE PACKAGE
- 24/7 rotating shift pattern — day and night shifts over a 3-week rotation
- Shift pattern currently moving toward 2pm–2am coverage
PERKS & DEVELOPMENT
- HPE and Skillsoft training — structured technical development funded by the client
- Access to test labs — hands-on learning environment
- Internal promotion pathway — they develop and promote from within
WHY THIS ROLE STANDS OUT
- Nearly £50k total package for a hands-on DC engineer role in London
- Shift allowance well above average — nights are compensated properly
- HPE training, CCNA support, and test lab access — rare to find in a DC break-fix role
- Clear internal progression — not a dead-end seat
