Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join the IT and Data team within our Practice on a full time basis, working 37.5 hours per week.

The main elements of the role are to code clinical letters that we receive and to data entry the correct information into patients medical records, in line with Practice procedures, protocols and the NHS contracts that we are responsible for.

We are looking for a team player, with good analytical skills who likes to pay attention to detail. Do you feel that you have the correct IT and data skills and relevant experience to support this role?

Main duties of the job
  • Accurately and efficiently code documents using SNOMED and READ codes into patients records using our EMIS clinical system.
  • To be aware of clinical information contained within correspondence coming into a patients notes and to have the knowledge and skills to accurately code this into a patients medical record.
  • Ensure quality data input at all times is completed in an accurate format, in line with Practice policies and procedures.
  • Review and complete admin and patient tasks from GPs and other Practice team members regarding patients encounters.
  • Support the team with clinical systems usage and queries.
  • Assist with new quality data solutions where applicable.
  • Assisting Practice members with IT related queries, ensuring that solutions are provided and assistance given where required.
  • Support the IT and Data team with any ongoing contract or practice projects as required.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Coding data on the Emis system
  • Extracting the required data from clinical correspondence and inputting the data into the patients electronic healthcare record inline with our WDP policies.
  • Coding all secondary care (hospital) letters
  • Monitoring patient call and recall systems
  • Maintain effective security of data all times
  • Support the team in the effective use of searches, audits and recalls
  • Support the team in the use of the clinical system
  • Act as a liaison between the practice and manage all fault reporting
  • Configure searches and interpret data for audit purposes
  • Collate the required data for reporting purposes
  • Set up and maintain new users according to practice protocol, ensuring they have access to required applications and RBAC functions
  • Ensure templates are maintained and any appropriate amendments are made in line with any changes to Practice Protocol or clinical guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot IT problems and identify solutions. Where appropriate, report IT faults to appropriate suppliers helpdesk
  • To work with the Ardens team to ensure data is consistently entered and is in line with the current requirements of the GP contracts.
  • To run searches to find anomalies and inconsistencies in data entries, in line with advice from the management team.
  • Provide training support as required to Practice staff
  • To support the secretarial team with the referral function of the Practice in line with Practice and local referral criteria
  • To assist with the setting up of appointments onto the clinical appointments system
  • Any other duties commensurate with skills and responsibilities.

£12.75 to £13.60 an hour in line with AFC band 3
