Job summary

Mears Group in Birmingham is seeking a Planner to join our local repairs team. You will schedule operatives and subcontractors, track daily progress and ensure jobs are completed on time and to a high standard.

The role requires strong IT skills, experience in a fast-paced environment, and a customer-focused approach. You will work closely with residents, supervisors and contractors, supporting reporting and KPI monitoring.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role with the listed duties.
• GCSE English & Maths or equivalent.
• Experience in a fast-paced, pressurised environment.
• Strong IT skills with the ability to use scheduling systems.
• Excellent time management, organisation and communication skills.
• Customer-first approach and ability to handle challenging situations.
• Knowledge of repairs and maintenance processes.
• Experience scheduling and planning multi-trade repairs using an ICT appointing tool.

Responsibilities

• Schedule operatives and subcontractors to ensure resources are used effectively and repairs are delivered on time.
• Monitor and update repair jobs daily, including appointments and follow-on works.
• Support IT systems and ensure PDAs and schedule of rates are updated.
• Communicate clearly with residents, operatives and stakeholders.
• Work with administrators, supervisors and contractors for seamless service.
• Cover for other planners and attend meetings/trainings as required.
• Follow Health & Safety requirements and company policies.
• Assist with reporting and KPI monitoring.
