Job summary

John Lewis Partnership is seeking a Customer Delivery Driver for Horsham. You’ll deliver Waitrose groceries with a customer‑facing, friendly approach and handle substitutions, refunds and route planning as part of a busy retail team.

Role involves night shift premium for 22:00–06:00, physical work and daily shop tasks when not on the road, with a part‑time schedule of 22.5 hours weekly across Tue, Wed and Fri. Join a cooperative, employee‑owned culture in Horsham.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older.
• Hold a full UK manual car driving license (B category) with no more than 6 penalty points.
• Bring strong people skills and a friendly approach to customer service.
• Capable of physical work including lifting and moving crates and stairs.

Responsibilities

• Be a friendly face for the Waitrose brand while on the road and deliver excellent customer service.
• Discuss order changes with customers and handle refunds promptly if needed.
• Handle products with care and treat deliveries as your own.
• Explain substitutions clearly and ensure customers aren’t charged extra for substitutions.
• Support customers with groceries and build trust on every route.
• Familiarise yourself with the day’s delivery route.
• Perform full safety checks on the delivery van and comply with safety rules.
• Assist the wider warehouse team with tasks when not on the road.
