Job summary

Newcastle Building Society is seeking a Customer Adviser for the Gateshead branch. You will greet customers, understand financial needs, and assist with transactions, savings accounts, and cashing up at day end. The role offers a Monday–Friday 9am–5pm schedule with Saturday rota coverage.

Training is provided through a 12-week programme, with opportunities to grow within the Society. A supportive team and community-focused environment are emphasised.

Qualifications

• Excellent people skills and the ability to build relationships.
• Strong listening skills and the ability to empathise are essential.
• A natural team player who works well with branch colleagues.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills for career progression.
• Experience in customer service is welcomed but not required.

Responsibilities

• Open and set up tills for the working day.
• Make customer appointments and process transactions at the counter.
• Assist in opening savings accounts and cashing up at close.
• Deliver outstanding face-to-face customer service in a branch environment.
• Engage with colleagues and take a friendly, supportive approach to the team.
