Job summary

Vertas Group's Facilities Team is seeking a caretaker at Moulton CEVC Primary School. The role covers day-to-day maintenance and cleaning, with 17.5 hours per week across 44 weeks and shifts in early morning and early evening.

Duties include checking heating, lighting and alarm systems, recording health and safety checks, deep cleaning during closed hours, stock monitoring, room setup for council events, and PAT tests. Enhanced DBS and right-to-work checks are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar caretaking or school setting.
• Experience using cleaning machines (carpet/hard floor) and cleaning equipment.

Job description

A caretaking role within Vertas Group's Facilities Team, based at Moulton CEVC Primary School. The work covers day-to-day maintenance and minor repairs, checking heating, lighting and alarm systems, keeping health and safety records, and cleaning, including deep cleans during closed hours. Hours are 17.5 a week over 44 weeks a year, split across early morning and early evening shifts, with occasional evening room setup for council events. Enhanced DBS and right to work checks are required before an offer.

What the job involves

• Day-to-day maintenance and minor repairs
• Checking that heating, lighting and alarm systems work properly
• Carrying out and recording basic checks and keeping health and safety records
• Deep cleaning during closed hours, using cleaning machines
• Monitoring site stocks and carrying out cleaning duties
• Setting up rooms with tables, chairs and tea and coffee for evening council meetings and events
• PAT testing throughout the building
• Basic maintenance such as painting, repairs and putting up notice boards
• Providing a caretaking service that oversees maintenance and cleanliness

What’s required

Experience

• Experience in a similar setting
• Experience using cleaning machines, such as carpet cleaners, hard floor cleaners and high-reach dusting equipment

• Customer service and communication skills, including listening and responding to colleagues, customers and suppliers
