Job summary

Amazon Data Services UK Limited seeks a Data Centre Critical Facilities Technician for the Data Centre Engineering Operations team. This role supports operation, monitoring and maintenance of electrical and mechanical infrastructure powering AWS cloud services, with 24/7 shift coverage and hands-on involvement in power distribution, generators, UPS and cooling systems.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent diploma is required.
• Hands-on experience with maintenance, inspections or troubleshooting on plant equipment is expected.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in mechanical, electrical or mechatronics is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventive and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
• Conduct routine plant inspections and equipment checks to ensure safe operation.
• Monitor alarms and system performance using Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Assist with fault finding and troubleshooting across power distribution and cooling equipment.
• Support testing of critical systems including diesel generators and UPS equipment.
• Supervise vendors performing maintenance or repair activities on site.
• Follow permit-to-work and safety procedures for all activities.
• Participate in incident response and assist with troubleshooting during incidents.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs.
• Support generator tests and infrastructure failover exercises.
