Main purpose of the job:
This postholder will be a key member of the Crime Prevention and Personal Safety team. The Crime Prevention Communications and Events Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a range of student focused crime prevention activities. They will work with new and existing stakeholders to maximise engagement opportunities with students, to enhance the safety of our community and raise awareness of crime trends to ensure our community are equipped with information to stay safe at UCL. The postholder will lead, build and maintain the event programme for this area of work at UCL. They will oversee the operational delivery of a programme of crime prevention activities, taking ownership of the planning and execution of events across the institution.
The postholder will be a strong communicator and forge excellent working relationships with stakeholders across UCL and externally, combining events with other teams and departments where appropriate to maximise reach. The postholder will be responsible for monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the effectiveness of events and activities with continuous development of the service in mind.

Duties and responsibilities:
·Create, manage and oversee of a programme of engaging activities and events to keep our community safe and prevent our community from being affected by crime.
·Tailor events to lesser heard communities and those who may have barriers to accessing this information.
·Work in partnership with key stakeholders to stay informed about event schedules and work to those schedules when planning the events programme.
·Take ownership of events at key touchpoints during the student journey, for example the welcome period.
·Where appropriate provide 1-1 communication support to students and staff who require reporting information and personal safety advice.
·Establish considered feedback mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of crime prevention and personal safety activities.
·Manage the delivery of a programme of activity for students from specific under-represented groups, including students with a disability and care leavers
·Work closely with others supporting student safety across the institution
·Participate in a range of industry-wide forums when appropriate
·Maintain links and networks with counterparts in other universities to exchange best practice and drive continuous improvement
·Attend external student safety events and fairs on behalf of the team
