Job summary

Somerset Council is seeking a dedicated Crematorium Operative to support cremation, burial and grounds maintenance across the bereavement services. You will train to become a Cremator Operator and play a key role in delivering compassionate, professional service to bereaved families.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Willingness to undertake training, including Cremator Operator qualifications.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a sensitive environment.
• Commitment to health and safety standards.
• Experience using tools or equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Support cremation services and undertake training to become a qualified Cremator Operator.
• Assist with funeral, burial and memorial services with dignity and professionalism.
• Carry out grave preparation and support burial activities.
• Maintain cemetery and crematorium grounds to a high standard.
• Operate vehicles and equipment safely and effectively.
• Keep buildings, equipment and work areas clean and secure.
