Job summary

Dudley MBC Bereavement Services is seeking a cemetery operative to perform gravedigging and related tasks across borough cemeteries. The role requires a full UK driving licence with trailer tow ability and preferable experience with a 360 excavator.

You must be prepared for weekend work on a rota and to work in all weather conditions. The post will involve physical duties, strong communication, and the ability to relate empathetically to bereaved families, with training provided where needed.

Qualifications

• Experience of using a mechanical digger, including 360 excavators, is desirable.
• Able to carry out physical tasks.
• Able to relate sensitively to the bereaved.
• Full UK driving licence with ability to drive up to 7.5 tonnes and tow a trailer.

Job description

Dudley MBC Bereavement Services is responsible for the operation of Gornal Wood and Stourbridge crematoria and the boroughs eight cemeteries .

The cemetery operative post will involve carrying out gravedigging and associated duties across the borough cemeteries in all weathers .

It will also be a requirement to work some weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis to help meet the needs of the out of hours burial service .

The post requires that the successful candidate holds a full UK driving licence with the provision to drive a vehicle up to 7 .5 tonne and also tow a trailer.

Experience of using a mechanical digger, including 360 excavators, is desirable.

You will also need to be able to carry out physical tasks, have good communication skills, be willing to undertake relevant training for the post and be able to relate sensitively to the bereaved .

Workplace Attendance: Working in the office 3+ days a week (pro-rata) or Onsite full time
