Job summary

Wilsons Auctions, the largest independently owned auction house in the UK and Ireland, seeks a Credit Controller to join the Head Office finance team in Belfast. You will protect cash flow, reduce debtor days and build strong relationships with customers, branches and senior colleagues.

You will own the Group debtors ledger, escalate overdue accounts, pursue payment and work with branches on larger invoices.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years' credit control experience.
• Experience with debt recovery via legal advisers.
• Experience attending court to pursue/defend customer debt.
• Excellent telephone and written communication skills.
• Advanced Excel: PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the Group debtors ledger and escalate overdue accounts.
• Work with branches and customers to resolve disputes and secure payments.
• Influence processes by identifying weaknesses in terms and conditions and driving improvements.
• Support, train and coordinate less experienced colleagues across the branch network.
• Distribute the daily Out of Terms report and follow up with local teams.
• Manage problem debt with involvement from Financial Controller or Finance Director.
• Contact customers by phone, email and letters; initiate court or other recovery actions as needed.
• Maintain the bad and doubtful debt register and respond to audit queries.
