Confidential, based in Gloucester, is seeking an experienced Credit Controller on a temp-to-perm basis. You will join a busy finance team, managing customer accounts, reducing outstanding debt and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities include chasing overdue invoices by phone and email, monitoring aged debt, resolving payment queries, and supporting month-end processes with accurate cash collection reporting.

Credit Controller

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join a well-established business based in Gloucester on a temp-to-perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and organised individual to join a busy finance team, taking responsibility for managing customer accounts, reducing outstanding debt and maintaining positive customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring outstanding balances are collected within agreed payment terms.
• Proactively contact customers via telephone and email to chase overdue invoices and resolve payment queries.
• Monitor aged debt reports, identifying overdue accounts and escalating potential issues where necessary.
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, account queries and payment disputes.
• Allocate customer payments and maintain accurate account records.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal departments to support timely payments.
• Prepare and issue customer statements, payment reminders and regular account updates.
• Support month-end processes and provide updates on aged debt and cash collection performance.

About You

• Previous experience in a Credit Control role.
• Confident communicating with customers at all levels and handling payment queries professionally.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy ledger and prioritise workloads.
• Good attention to detail and confident working with financial information.
• Comfortable using Excel and accounting systems.
• Proactive approach to debt collection, with the confidence to follow up outstanding balances.
