Job summary

The Red Lion Barnes is a vibrant gastropub that showcases seasonal menus and a welcoming kitchen culture. We are seeking a proactive Sous Chef to support the Head Chef, lead the kitchen in their absence, and craft fresh dishes from local produce.

You will bring strong hygiene knowledge, food safety awareness, and a creative flair to develop the team and deliver exceptional service with pride across all shifts.

Qualifications

• Deputy to Head Chef, takes control of the kitchen when they are away.
• Prides in preparing fresh food made from seasonal, local ingredients.
• Creative Sous Chef who can bring new ideas and create fresh dishes.
• Bring the best out of the kitchen team.
• Take pride in every successful service.
• A hygiene qualification, excellent food knowledge and food safety awareness are all essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Take full control of the kitchen when the Head Chef is away.
• Prepare fresh, seasonal dishes using local ingredients.
• Lead and motivate the kitchen team to deliver high-quality meals.
• Maintain highest standards of food safety and hygiene during service.
