Job summary

Blue Arrow is recruiting a Sous Chef for Thetford, Norfolk, to lead a kitchen brigade at a popular independent garden centre. The role offers creative freedom to design and implement new dishes while maintaining catering excellence.

Salary is from £30,000 plus tips, permanent full time with a rotating shift pattern including alternate weekends; excellent staff benefits include pension, wellbeing scheme and paid holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Sous Chef in a similar venue.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Passionate about food; enthusiastic attitude and willingness to take operation to the next level.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the kitchen team on a day-to-day basis.
• To assist in the training and development of the catering staff.
• To ensure that we have sufficient supplies to maintain the daily menu.
• To organise the cooking and preparation and whatever is necessary to maintain the daily menu.
• To attend a weekly meeting with the Catering Manager.
• To ensure the team have completed the job lists provided and achieve what is expected.
• To ensure all team members are productive and fully occupied.
• To ensure daily breaks are taken.
• To ensure all kitchen staff complete wastage and temperature records.
• To provide the catering manager with a report for the monthly staff meeting.
• To carry out the agreed procedures for Health and Safety and Food Safety.
• To undertake any other reasonable tasks requested by the catering manager.
• To ensure regular performance reviews are carried out and recorded.
