Job summary

Elementa is recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across a range of primary and secondary schools in Devon. These opportunities are flexible to fit your availability, including day-to-day, short-term and long-term assignments, with potential for permanent roles for the right candidates.

You will deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher, keep students engaged, manage behaviour in line with school policies, and support a positive learning environment across subjects.

Cover Supervisor – Devon

Elementa is recruiting Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary and primary schools in Devon.

We work with a variety of mainstream schools that require reliable and confident Cover Supervisors to provide classroom supervision during teacher absences. These opportunities can be flexible to suit your availability and may include day-to-day, short-term and long-term assignments, with the potential for permanent opportunities for the right candidates.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher, ensuring students remain engaged, on task and working in a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities will include:

• Supervising whole classes during teacher absences


• Delivering pre-set lesson materials across a range of subjects


• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies


• Encouraging positive engagement with learning


• Providing support to students where appropriate


• Maintaining a safe, structured and respectful classroom environment


• Promoting high expectations of behaviour and achievement


• Reporting back to teaching staff on lesson outcomes and student progress


• Supporting the wider school community where required

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who are confident, adaptable and able to build positive relationships with young people while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations.

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable, whether in education, coaching, youth work, tutoring, care or other support settings. Experience as a Cover Supervisor is beneficial but not essential, as transferable skills will be considered.

Assignments are available on a temporary basis, with opportunities for longer-term placements and permanent positions through our partner schools.

A DBS registered on the Update Service is advantageous and may allow for a quicker start, although applicants without one are welcome to apply, and support can be provided with obtaining a new Enhanced DBS where required.

CONTRACT & RECRUITMENT INFORMATION

Elementa is the recruiting partner. Applicants being considered for the role after pre-screening will be required to complete the registration process with Elementa. This includes full vetting and background checks, as well as an application for an Enhanced DBS Disclosure (which may be chargeable at £64.20), unless you already hold a current Enhanced DBS subscribed to the update service.
