Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking confident Cover Supervisors for Birkenhead secondary schools (KS3/KS4). You will supervise lessons during teacher absences, deliver pre-set work, and maintain order under school policies.

This role offers flexible full-time, part-time, or day-to-day supply, with access to CPD and safeguarding training. Ideal candidates have experience with youth and strong communication, plus a willingness to obtain/update an Enhanced DBS.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with secondary youth (e.g., tutoring, coaching, youth work, or TA roles).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with teenagers.
• Confidence with classroom management and handling low-level disruption assertively.
• Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Responsibilities

• Supervise high school classes (KS3 & KS4) during short-term teacher absences.
• Deliver pre-set work and learning instructions provided by the department.
• Maintain strong classroom control using the school's positive behaviour policies.
• Keep students focused and on-task throughout each lesson period.
• Collect completed work and report back to the subject department head.
