Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking Cover Supervisors to support high schools in Sefton. You will supervise KS3/KS4 classes during short-term teacher absences and deliver pre-set work while maintaining strong classroom control.

Ideal candidates have SEN support, care or youth mentoring backgrounds, strong communication, and confidence in managing disruption. Various shifts available full-time, part-time, or day-to-day supply.

Qualifications

• SEN support background or care/youth mentoring experience.
• 1:1 assistance experience or classroom support.
• Clear communication and interpersonal skills with teenagers.
• Confidence in managing classroom disruption and behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Supervise high school classes during teacher absences.
• Deliver pre-set work and learning instructions.
• Maintain classroom control per school policies.
• Keep students focused and on-task during lessons.
• Report completed work to the subject department.

We are actively recruiting proactive, clear-communicating Cover Supervisors for high schools across Southport (PR8 and PR9).

This is the ultimate role for classroom assistants, support workers, sports coaches, youth group leaders looking for hands-on classroom leadership experience.

Requirements:

• Practical background in SEN support, care work, youth mentoring, 1:1 assistance, or classroom support.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with teenagers.
• Confidence with classroom management and handling low-level disruption assertively.
• Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

Key Duties:

• Supervise high school classes (KS3 & KS4) during short-term teacher absences.
• Deliver pre-set work and learning instructions provided by the department.
• Maintain strong classroom control using the school's positive behaviour policies.
• Keep students focused and on-task throughout each lesson period.
