Job description

We are recruiting for a Head Cook to join our team at Poplars Nursing and Residential Home, where you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults and individuals living with dementia.

Position Details:
  • Hours : 4 shifts per week, shift times 05 : 30 to 15 : 30
  • Rate of pay : £13.20 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications
  • Schedule : Rota basis, including weekends and some bank holidays
  • Location : DE13 (Please consider travel times, especially on weekends)

We are looking to speak with people who are passionate about cooking and providing a range of quality meals for the people who live within the care and nursing home. We will look to you to prepare and cook, hot and cold meals, taking into consideration dietary requirements and individual preferences. You will also provide leadership and support to the kitchen staff team.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate records of food supplies and deliveries
  • Plan or contribute to menus with a focus on fresh ingredients and balanced nutrition
  • Stock rotation
  • Ensure all equipment is cleaned, well maintained, and stored appropriately
  • Ensure the cleaning of the kitchen and dining areas are carried out effectively
Required:
  • Food / Hygiene Certificate
  • Good communication skills
  • Team player
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
