Job summary

Sodexo is recruiting a Cook to join a Ministry of Defence site in the UK. You will prepare, cook and serve high-quality meals in a busy kitchen, upholding food safety standards and providing a great dining experience for military personnel.

You’ll work with a supportive team, have opportunities to develop your skills, and may participate in events. A catering qualification is desirable, with IOSH and MS Office knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Cook or Chef in catering or hospitality.
• A relevant catering qualification is desirable, but not essential.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve high-quality meals in a busy, professional kitchen.
• Deliver delicious, well-presented food to military personnel with high standards.
• Work with front-of-house to provide excellent service and a great dining experience.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness following guidelines and procedures.
• Support bulk cooking and ensure consistency and freshness across dishes.
• Contribute to sanitation and follow best practices for kitchen operations.
• Participate in special functions and events to showcase cooking skills.

What you'll do:

• Prepare, cook and serve high-quality meals in a busy, professional kitchen.
• Take pride in delivering delicious, well-presented food to military personnel, maintaining excellent standards every day.
• Work closely with the front-of-house team to provide a friendly, efficient service and a great experience for everyone.
• Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness, following EHO guidelines and Sodexo procedures.
• Support bulk cooking while ensuring every dish is consistent, fresh and prepared to the same high standard.
• Help keep the kitchen running smoothly by following best practices and maintaining excellent standards of sanitation.
• Get involved in special functions and high-profile events, giving you the opportunity to showcase your cooking skills and creativity.

What you bring:

• Previous experience as a Chef or Cook in a catering or hospitality environment.
• A relevant catering qualification is desirable, but not essential.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and health and safety standards.
• Able to work well as part of a team in a busy kitchen.
• A genuine passion for cooking and providing high-quality food and service.
• Experience in military or government catering would be an advantage.
• IOSH qualification and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office would be desirable.
