Our client, a leading UK property developer, seeks an experienced Conveyancer to join their in-house legal team on a fixed-term contract with potential for permanence. The role focuses on managing residential property transactions, mainly new-build plots and part exchanges.

The candidate will handle plot sales, conduct title checks, and coordinate with the Group Legal Department, ensuring timely exchanges and compliant completions.

Qualifications

• Experience in Residential Conveyancing and plot sales.
• Qualification via ILEX/CLC or law degree would be advantageous.
• Experience with plot sales for a residential house builder is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage plot sales, part exchanges and purchases.
• Ensure caseload is managed to meet exchange timescales.
• Prepare plot documentation and oversee lease transfers.
• Conduct title checks and report risks for informed decisions.
• Liaise with purchaser solicitors, Group Legal Department and regional offices.
• Attend meetings with sales team to review caseload.
• Handle post-completion matters including SDLT and land registrations.

Job description

Our client one of the largest property developers in the UK, are looking for an experienced Conveyancer to join their in- house legal team on a fixed term contract possibility of going permanent .The purpose of the role is to manage the legal process of Residential Property transactions, primarily the sale of new- build homes and the part exchange properties

What you’ll do as a Conveyancer

• Reporting to the company Solicitor heading the Plot Team
• Managing and running plot sales, part exchanges and purchases for such group companies that are designated to you
• Ensuring that the caseload is managed and conducted efficiently to achieve exchanges within the required timescales
• Preparing individual plot documentation and manage the transfer of the lease process to facilitate accurate and efficient legal completion
• Dealing with part exchange transactions – title checking and reporting
• Conduct title checks and report on part exchange transactions to identify risks and support informed decision making
• You will build relationships with purchaser’s solicitors, and the Group Legal Department and regional operating companies
• Attending meetings with the sales team to review caseload
• Dealing with post completion matters such as SDLT returns and land Registration where necessary
• Advising and assisting on issues which arise during plot sales and part exchange transactions and where appropriate, dealing with plot sales and part exchange transactions
• Dealing with lease/transfer variations and reversion sales
• Dealing with the recovery of retentions (non-litigious)
• Carrying our AML checks

Candidate

• You will be an experienced and motivated Conveyancer or Fee Earner able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of Residential Conveyancing, practice, and procedure
• Qualification through the Institute of Legal Executives, Council of Licensed Conveyancers or to at least degree level in law would be an advantage
• Previous experience of handling plot sales for a residential house builder (either in house or in private practice) would be a distinct advantage
• The successful candidate will be able to work with modern computer-based technology
• You will be self-motivated, adaptable , have good team and communication skills
• Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
