Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Traffic Design Engineer on a contract basis within the highways sector. The role focuses on gathering data, supporting the detailed design, and preparing drawings for minor traffic management schemes on public sector projects.

You will inspect work, liaise with contractors and statutory undertakers, use computerised systems, and respond to public queries. Experience in traffic engineering and highway design is highly desirable to contribute to improving the highway network.

Qualifications

• Experience in traffic engineering and highway design is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gather data such as site surveys, condition data, and traffic movements necessary for the design of minor traffic management schemes.
• Assist in the detailed design and preparation of drawings for minor traffic management schemes.
• Prepare cost estimates for minor traffic management schemes.
• Inspect contractors' work, ensuring quality, quantity, and material specifications are met.
• Liaise with contractors and statutory undertakers on site.
• Utilise computerised systems relevant to the role.
• Respond to public queries and assist in preparing responses for elected officials and partners.
• Promote Equal Opportunities, Customer Care, and Environmental policies in service delivery and personnel practice.
