Job summary

Matchtech are seeking a skilled Highway Engineer to join our client on a contract basis and help maintain and improve the highway network. The role focuses on delivering structural maintenance schemes, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with health, safety and engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in highway engineering or a related field.
• Strong understanding of highway structural maintenance and improvement schemes.
• Proficiency in developing specifications and adhering to engineering standards.
• Ability to monitor project budgets, programmes, and contractor performance.
• Experience in conducting site inspections and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, design, cost and deliver highway maintenance and improvement schemes.
• Manage carriageway and footway resurfacing, reconstruction, and drainage work.
• Develop specifications and oversee works to engineering standards and QA procedures.
• Monitor budgets, programmes and contractor performance.
• Undertake site inspections and supervise works for health and safety compliance.
• Assess temporary traffic management arrangements and construction risks.
• Provide technical advice and support to stakeholders.
• Assist with developing future maintenance programmes.
