Job summary

Matchtech is assisting a public sector client in London to recruit a Traffic and Highways Engineer on a contract basis. The post will deliver a substantial highways maintenance programme, focusing on resurfacing and patching from feasibility through to delivery, payment milestones and the guarantee period.

Candidates will bring proven highways engineering experience, strong project tracking and admin skills, plus the ability to liaise with contractors, council officers and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience in highways engineering or local authority environment.
• Understanding of resurfacing, patching and highway works.
• Knowledge of street works permits, application processes and lead-in times.
• Strong project tracking, programme management and admin skills.
• Ability to liaise effectively with contractors, council staff and senior stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to present clear project updates.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and records.

Responsibilities

• Track highways projects through feasibility to completion.
• Monitor resurfacing, patching and maintenance works.
• Coordinate with contractors and council officers to deliver projects.
• Manage street works permits applications and timing.
• Maintain project programmes and delivery information.
• Provide updates in reports and management meetings.
• Support FOI requests and other reporting requirements.
• Monitor payments and guarantee period obligations.
