Job summary

Matchtech is supporting a dynamic highways consultancy recruiting an experienced Highways - Active Travel Engineer to deliver a diverse range of development schemes across the UK.

You will design highways, drainage and public realm for commercial, residential, healthcare and education projects, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction while developing fee proposals and bids.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering (or similar) with experience in civil engineering.
• Working towards or holding Incorporated or Chartered status.
• Experience designing commercial and residential developments, including infrastructure, external works, and drainage.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Site 3D, Causeway Flow/InfoDrainage, Vehicle Tracking, and KeyLINES/SIGN/POST.
• Strong knowledge of national design standards and local authority/Highways processes.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills; good time management and organisational abilities.
• Ability to manage tasks and deliver projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Design highways in line with standards such as LHA guidance, Manual for Streets, NRSWA.
• Design drainage per Sewerage Sector Guidance and CIRIA guidance.
• Design public realm, active travel, cycling infrastructure, and coordinate utilities.
• Support site monitoring, fee proposals and bids.
• Liaise with authorities to agree proposed designs.
• Coordinate adoption processes and legal agreements (S278, S38, S104).
• Produce technical reports and attend client/architect/contractor meetings.
