Job Overview

We are inviting applications for the post of Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon to join our forward‑thinking and collaborative breast service within the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and compassionate surgeon with expertise in oncoplastic techniques to contribute to a county‑wide model of care that places innovation, excellence, and patient‑centred outcomes at its core.

You will be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality breast services. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a first‑class clinical service and lead all staff engaged in the specialty.
  • Deliver specialist breast surgical services for in‑patients, day cases and out‑patients, maintaining continuity of care and department function.
  • Support and further develop the oncoplastic/reconstructive aspects of the breast service.
  • Actively contribute to the Breast MDT and participate in audits.
  • Maintain clinical competence and audit participation.
  • Teach staff and medical students.
  • Adhere to Trust policies, procedures and flexible working arrangements.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice (or eligibility to obtain).
  • CCT in General Surgery and on the GMC Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT).
  • FRCS or equivalent, with training and experience in breast surgery including oncoplastic surgery.
  • Experience in cancer management.
  • Higher degree (MD/PhD/MBA) is desirable.
  • Oncoplastic fellowship and research in the field are desirable.

  • Completion of a “Train the Trainers” course or equivalent is desirable.
