To act as a consultant resource to the Gannel (Truro and Newquay) complex care and dementia psychiatry service, including individual casework with selected patients referred from the multidisciplinary teams and by consultant colleagues, together with providing broader advice to colleagues in psychiatry and other disciplines.
Manage, appraise and give professional supervision to junior medical staff during the course of their duties as agreed between medical colleagues and the medical director and in accordance with the Trust’s personnel policies and procedures. This may include assessing competencies under the competency-based medical education framework.
Undertake the administrative duties associated with the care of patients.
Participate in service and business planning activity for the service and, as appropriate, for the whole mental health service as well as annual appraisal for consultants.
Attend and participate in the academic programme of the Trust, including lectures and seminars as part of the internal CPD programme.
Maintain professional registration with the General Medical Council, Mental Health Act section 12 (2) approval and abide by professional codes of conduct.
Work with local managers and professional colleagues in ensuring the efficient running of services and share with medical colleagues in the medical contribution to management.
