Job summary

Telford College is seeking a Construction Technician to deliver instruction across all course levels, manage stock of tools and equipment, and uphold health and safety standards within the construction centre. You will liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to support effective course delivery and learner progression.

Responsibilities

• Support practical activity and instruction for groups of level 1‑3 students and apprentices.
• Assist with setup and delivery of practical sessions inside and outside construction areas.
• Book in/out resources and equipment for practical activities.
• Organise stock control and ordering as required.
• Maintain and secure workshop areas and all tools/equipment.
• Ensure health and safety standards are maintained.
• Support college events such as enrolment, open days, and information evenings.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As part of this role, you will deliver instruction across all levels of course delivery, including intervention sessions and practical activities both inside and outside the construction centre. You will play a key role in managing student behaviour in line with college expectations and the positive behaviour policy, fostering a supportive learning environment. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining and controlling stock of tools and equipment, ensuring that health and safety standards are consistently upheld. The role also involves liaising with internal teams, external stakeholders, and various companies to support effective course delivery and student progression.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• To provide support with practical activity and instruction to groups of level 1, 2 and 3 full time students and apprentices for both inside and outside areas within construction.
• Work with lecturers to assist with the set‑up and delivery of practical sessions for both inside and outside construction areas.
• Assist lecturing staff with booking in/out of resources and equipment for practical activities for both inside and outside construction areas.
• Organise effective stock control and ordering as required.
• Maintenance and security of all workshop areas including all tools and equipment.
• Maintain and ensure compliance with health & safety standards within the area.
• Assist with various College events such as enrolment, open days and information evenings.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

• Level 2 qualification in a Construction related area, with a developed knowledge of all the trades
• Level 2 qualifications (GCSE A* – C, or equivalent) in Maths and English or a willingness to attain these qualifications with the support of the College
• Level 3 teaching qualification e.g. PTLLs or a firm commitment to achieve an Award in Education and Training (Desirable)
