Job summary

Cambridge Regional College is seeking a self-motivated Technician to join the Construction team at Cambridge Campus. This full-time role offers a competitive salary of £25,823 - £27,152 per annum and staff benefits.

You will support practical classes, maintain workshops, and ensure tools and materials are ready for teaching. The post requires hands-on construction skills, good interpersonal and admin abilities, and a commitment to health and safety.

Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate practical skills in a construction-related trade.
  • Experience in a similar FE (further education) role is advantageous.
  • Hold qualifications in a construction-related industry.

Responsibilities

  • Support activities within busy Construction Workshops.
  • Prepare workshop areas and resources to support student learning.
  • Work alongside teaching colleagues to ensure the smooth running of practical classes.
  • Maintain and repair equipment in workshops and training areas; set up equipment, tools, and assessment areas; assist staff during practical sessions.
  • Maintain good Health & Safety standards during workshop sessions.

About the role:

We are seeking a self-motivated and confident individual to support activities within our busy Construction Workshops.

As the successful candidate for this exiting role, you will find there is a variety of tasks to be undertaken each day. Preparation of workshop areas and resources is key to our students learning, and you will be able to work on your own initiative to ensure tools and materials are in the right place at the right time. Working alongside teaching colleagues you will be key to the smooth running of practical classes.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain and repair all equipment in all workshops and training areas; prepare and set up equipment, tool and assessment areas for practical sessions and demonstrations, assist lecturing staff during practical sessions and demonstrations and maintain good Health & Safety during workshop sessions.

You will need to be able to demonstrate practical skills in a construction related trade, and have knowledge of the associated tools, equipment and materials used.

Experience of a similar role within further education would be advantageous, although full training will be given.

The post holder should have good interpersonal skills, administrative and communication skills, be organised and able to meet deadlines.

The successful candidate will need to hold qualifications in a construction related industry.
