Job description
Composite Fitter – McLaren Composites Technology Centre

Gi Group are recruiting for a Composite fitter to join McLaren Composites Technology Centre. This is a temporary trial position with potential for permanent employment thereafter.

Working Hours and Pay

Working Monday to Friday, 6 am to 2 pm and 2 pm to 10 pm shifts, rotating on a weekly basis.

Pay rates:
£19.78 per hour up to 40 hours per week.
£29.67 per hour after 40 hours and Saturdays.
£39.56 per hour for Sunday overtime.

Contract Details

Initial contract from January 2026 – August 2026 with the possibility of full‑time contracts for successful candidates.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A previous background in composites, automotive and/or manufacturing is essential.
  • Knowledge of composite materials, preferably pre‑preg materials.
  • Experience with air tools, hand tools and adhesives.
  • Experience & understanding of quality issues.
  • Experience of fitting / assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency developed through job‑related training and considerable on‑the‑job expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with initiative under minimum supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities.
  • PC literate (MS Office, knowledge).
Principal Responsibilities
  • Apply technical skills to carry out production processes safely and effectively to meet the production plan, mainly focused on bonding, finishing and inspection of composite components.
  • Maintain the highest quality standards on all manufactured composite components.
  • Support the Team Leader with prioritising work and other activities, and stand in for the Team Leader if absent.
  • Contribute to training and development of other team members.
  • Ensure the work area is clean, tidy and orderly, in line with brand expectations and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Proactively develop processes to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Set an example to production operatives.
  • Provide support on all processes in the department.
  • Work to challenging and demanding deadlines.
