Job summary

Animal Trust (UK) in Birkenhead is seeking a friendly veterinary receptionist to join our busy practice. You will welcome clients and their pets for appointments, manage diaries, take payments, and help ensure smooth front-desk operations.

The role requires calm under pressure, empathy for clients, and the ability to coordinate with clinical staff. Contracted hours are 20 per week, with a 2-day, 10.5-hour shift pattern, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch, and a 1:4 Saturday rotation.

Qualifications

• Experience in reception at a medical or veterinary setting.
• Strong organisational and communication skills under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming clients and their pets for appointments with a compassionate, professional manner.
• Answering telephone calls and queries from clients.
• Handling medication prepared by the veterinary team and handing to clients.
• Ensuring reception, waiting area and consultation rooms remain clean and orderly.
• Assisting with diary management and appointment scheduling.
• Taking payments and processing client transactions securely.
• Registering new clients and addressing client concerns.
• Cooperating with clinical staff to support smooth patient care.
