Job summary

St Mary's C of E Primary School is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEND in a Key Stage 2 class, working closely with the SENDCo and teachers.

You will help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships, adapting activities and providing sensory and movement breaks as needed. Previous experience is helpful, but the right attitude and willingness to learn are essential.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Support children to regulate their emotions and behaviour using agreed strategies.
• Provide sensory and movement breaks and time-out opportunities where appropriate.
• Adapt learning activities to enable SEND pupils to access the curriculum with peers.
• Encourage inclusion and participation in school life.
• Work under direction of SENDCo and class teacher to ensure needs are met.
• Support pupils across the school when required.
