Job summary

Mary Swanwick Primary School is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support the learning of children with SEND. The role also offers opportunities to work more generally within the class, supporting small groups and individuals.

The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with experience of working with children with a range of needs and who are dedicated to enabling children to achieve their personal best.

Qualifications

  • At least GCSE English and Maths at least Grade 4 essential
  • Relevant Training over last two years desirable
  • Experience working in a school environment or other educational setting essential
  • Experience working with children / young people with SEN essential
  • Experience planning and delivering learning activities essential
  • Has experience of leading playground activities.

Responsibilities

  • Work with individual children, including children with SEND and EHCPs
  • Be able to work as part of a team
  • Prepare learning materials and adapt teaching support according to childrenʼs needs
  • Look after children's physical, social and emotional welfare—inclusive of first aid duties
  • Lead intervention groups
  • Promote and support the inclusion of all pupils, including those with specific needs.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Teaching Assistant who are able to support the learning of children with SEND.

They will:

Work with individual children, including children with SEND and EHCPs.

Be able to work as part of a team

Prepare learning materials and adapt teaching support according to childrenʼs needs

Look after children's physical, social and emotional welfare-including first aid duties

Be creative and innovative

Have high expectations of achievement and behaviour

Be committed to promoting and upholding the school values and ethos

Promote and support the inclusion of all pupils, including those with specific needs.

Be motivated and passionate to achieve the very best for the children in our care and make a genuine difference

Use initiative to assess and evaluate pupils' needs

Lead intervention groups

We are looking for someone with a flexible, positive, outgoing, caring and nurturing approach. The SEND TA role is advertised as 32.50 hours per week. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.
