Job summary

HC-One Limited seeks a Kitchen Assistant to help prepare and serve nutritious meals in dementia, nursing and care homes. You’ll work under a Chef or Cook, maintain hygiene, record temperatures, and support stock rotation with warmth and respect for Residents.

We offer full training, a comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities for development. A willingness to work towards NVQ2 and the right to work in the UK are essential; DBS/PVG checks are paid and provided where applicable.

Qualifications

• Some kitchen experience and a genuine passion for helping others.
• Willingness to work towards NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation if not already held.
• Ability to follow recipes and accurately record information.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Safeguarding training is required and ongoing.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
• Serving meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner.
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
• Monitoring and recording food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
• Supporting stock rotation and ensuring ingredients are properly stored.
• Showcasing new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
• Washing up and keeping the kitchen spotless, even after busy periods.
