Job summary

HC-One Limited is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support meal preparation and serving in care home settings, ensuring nutritious, well-balanced meals for residents with diverse dietary needs.

You will help maintain cleanliness and safety in the kitchen, monitor temperatures, and assist with stock rotation. The role emphasizes kindness, patience, and respectful interaction with residents and colleagues, within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation (or willingness to work towards it)
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to follow recipes and record information accurately
• Patience and kindness when interacting with residents and coworkers

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under supervision of Chef or Cook
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely manner
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene on surfaces and equipment
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.)
• Support stock rotation and proper storage of ingredients
• Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment
• Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless, even after busy periods
