Job summary

Co-op is seeking a Funeral Service Crew member in Torquay. The role is part-time (16 or 30 hours per week) with a schedule Monday to Friday 8am–5pm and on-call rota.

A full UK manual driving licence is essential, and duties include preparation, transport, and personal care of the deceased with professionalism and respect. Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence required.
• Ability to perform physical aspects of the role, with training provided.
• Good IT skills and ability to learn new applications and systems.
• Calm, compassionate approach to customers in emotional situations.

Responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from a range of locations in a professional and empathetic manner.
• Bear coffins on funeral day and drive funeral vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and facilities, including vehicles.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
• Prepare the deceased for viewings and the funeral.
• Maintain client management applications and keep records updated.
• Lift, carry and move coffins safely following health and safety guidance.
