Job summary

Epsom and St Helier Hospitals is seeking an Ambulance Care Assistant/Driver for its Non-Emergency Patient Transport service. The role involves assisting patients home to ambulance, transporting them to appointments, and safely returning them home. You will record journeys and coordinate with the control room as shifts allocate work.

The job is full-time (42.5 hours per week) with a starting salary of £15.42 per hour (inc. HCAS).

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (no more than 3 points).
• The licence must have been held for a minimum of 2 years.
• Experience of working both independently and within a team.
• Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in patient transport settings.

Responsibilities

• Help patients out of their home and into the ambulance (lifting involved).
• Transport patients safely and promptly to appointments.
• Return patients home and ensure they are settled before leaving.
• Keep accurate journey records on PDA and Daily Log Sheet.
• Communicate with control room and report any delays or issues.
• Ensure allocated vehicle is stocked and maintained; report defects.
• Wear issued uniform and follow policies and procedures.
• Sign out/in equipment used for patient conveyance.
