Job summary

Scottish Centre for Social Research (ScotCen) is seeking a Field Interviewer in Scotland to visit communities and conduct in-home interviews on health, housing, transport, and daily life. You’ll listen with warmth and capture stories that shape policy and services.

You’ll work around 20 hours weekly across three days, with travel within your area and occasional longer journeys. Full training and ongoing support are provided.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence and sole use of a car.
• Class 1 Business insurance
• Right to work in the UK
• Willingness to complete a DBS check
• Reliable home broadband
• Confidence using basic technology
• At least 20 hours available per week (minimum 3 days a week)
• Flexibility to work across weekdays, evenings and weekends.
• Strong verbal and written English

Responsibilities

• Visit people in your local area to conduct in-home interviews.
• Accurately record responses using NatCen device.
• Travel throughout assigned area and plan routes.
• Receive full training and ongoing support.
• Interviews scheduled to match participants' availability, including evenings/weekends.
