Job summary

ScotCen, the Scottish Centre for Social Research, is seeking a Field Interviewer to visit local areas and conduct in-home interviews on issues like health, housing and transport. You will collect stories with warmth and respect, using NatCen devices to record responses, and may travel within your patch and beyond as needed.

You will receive full training, with regular check-ins and route planning support. A DBS check may be required; strong English skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence and sole use of a car.
• Class 1 Business insurance.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Willingness to complete a DBS check.
• At least 20 hours available per week (minimum 3 days).
• Strong verbal and written English.

Responsibilities

• Visit people in your local area and conduct in-home research interviews.
• Listen with warmth, respect and good listening.
• Record responses accurately using a NatCen device.
• Travel around your assigned patch; longer journeys and overnight stays may be required.
• Plan routes with support; paid travel time and mileage allowance.
